Blix is an aggregator of leaflets and promotions that helps you save time and money in stores. To enrich already outstanding performance (2 mln MAU), we added the ability to analyse your budget.

Context

Blix has a lot of dedicated users who are doing everyday grocery shopping with the app. They look for the best promotions of their favourite products and create shopping lists. To fulfil their experience, we should also think about the post-shopping experience. We decided to make an MVP form of a new feature -the expenses manager.

DEFINE

The Blix app helps many people shop every day and save a certain amount of money when searching for promotions. Our users enjoy using the shopping list. To make the shopping experience even more complete, we thought about adding the function of collecting and analysing receipts.
The primary business need is the possibility to test the feature, which will enable the introduction of cashback in the future. The idea is to build and publish an uncomplicated feature that will help us learn to read and correctly interpret receipts on real examples.

The instant value given to the user is:
- 🧐 instant analysis of the receipt on the chart, so the user knows what he spent the money on (we'll use OCR for this)
📈 month-to-month statement (MVP version)
📦 a place to store all receipts

The realisation of the OKR: correct and complete reading of 90% of the information on the receipt.

DEFINE

1. Adding first receipt

↑ Above: Submitting the first receipt

Moving forward, we decided to shop receipts and expenses separately. Here you can see the empty state of expenses view and adding first receipt process.

Switch This/Previous month

We added a simplified divider between this and next month's expenses as an MVP version. This helps quickly compare the months' spendings.
